This is Whitney.
I really do plan on putting some more interesting posts up at some point with pictures and such but I'm just so lazy and blogging makes me sleepy. Thank goodness Haley has a knack for this thing or this blog would just sit here collecting virtual cobwebs. BUT, I found some old videos from games and school festivals with my students that I thought I'd throw up here just for fun.
I realize I'm probably the only one that finds them entertaining but it gives a good snapshot of what some of our English classes are like (the more relaxed lessons, anyway). Enjoy!
Around school festival season. This was how we spent our 10 minute breaks for the month of October:
"What Time is it, Mr. Wolf?" This was for our telling time and numbers lesson. Mr. Wolf would give a time of day and the kids would take that many steps toward him/her. If Mr. Wolf shouted "It's lunch time!" He could chase the kids and tag someone to be "it" next. My 3rd graders get a little excited during games so their English gets really garbled.
And here we are playing it at another school. This class had a lot of students who wanted to be "it", thus the personal space invasion.
Fireman Sam. The kids were learning how to talk on the phone. The goal of this game was to find out who was "Fireman Sam" before your house burned down (3 tries). The person who was "it" sat in the middle and made a phone call to whoever they thought Fireman Sam was. The only clues were the kids being sticklers about gender pronouns and that everyone would copy the actions of the person who is Fireman Sam. I think all the "Ling, ling, ling!" sound effects were my favorite part. I apologize for my snorting into the mic.
My 3rd graders' rendition of Cinderella using classroom objects and telling time:
Fourth grade's "Three Little Pigs"
AND some school festival performances:
This skit was about the stages of life. Our 6th grade class president had a really deep voice so he did the narrating. It turned out pretty fun, but the kids were pretty bashful about it. The two boys playing an elderly couple were my favorite part. And, yes, one of the kids gave birth on stage. There are no words.
This is one of my favorite songs now and this kid rocked it:
